Anthropic is reportedly planning a November IPO at up to $2 trillion
Bloomberg reports Anthropic could start marketing its IPO the week of 9 November, at a valuation of up to $2 trillion. What's reported and confirmed.
Carried by established outlets, not officially confirmed.
Anthropic, the company behind the Claude AI models, is preparing to go public as soon as mid-November, according to a Bloomberg report on 1 October. If the reported valuation holds, it would be the largest stock market listing ever.
Anthropic confirmed in June that it had filed confidentially for an IPO, but it hasn't commented on the reported timing or valuation. Most of what follows comes from reporting, so the post carries a Reported stamp overall.
What's reported
What isn't known
How many shares Anthropic would sell and how much it would raise haven't been reported. Coverage of the plans has also cited financial figures, including fast revenue growth and very large losses, but we're not repeating specific numbers until they appear in a public filing we can check.
Why it matters
A listing at this size would make Anthropic one of the most valuable public companies in the world on its first day of trading. It would also put a public market price on the AI race for the first time at this scale. OpenAI has raised money privately, including from SoftBank and Nvidia, but isn't public.
The timing is notable for a second reason. Anthropic is one of the companies the FTC confirmed this week it is investigating over AI agent risks, and its chief executive signed the White House AI safety accord. Going public would bring new disclosure rules on top of both.
What to watch
The public filing. Before a US listing, a company has to make its registration statement public, and that document would show the real revenue, losses, and risks in Anthropic's own words. We'll cover it when it appears.
