The PS6 leak, sorted: what's claimed, who's claiming it, and what Sony has actually said
A leaker says the PS6 chip is finished, rated at 40 teraflops, for a November 2027 launch. Sony hasn't said a word. Every claim, sorted by what backs it.
Unverified. Treat as speculation until an official source says otherwise.
Over the past week, one hardware leaker's posts have turned into headlines about the PlayStation 6: finished chip, specs, a launch month, even a price. It's being repeated as if it were a spec sheet.
It isn't. Sony has not announced the PS6, its specs, its date, or its price. This post carries a Rumour stamp, and here's each claim sorted by what's behind it.
Where it comes from
Almost everything traces back to KeplerL2, a leaker who posts on the NeoGAF forum and whose track record outlets take seriously. Outlets including Insider Gaming, VideoCardz, and Push Square reported the posts from 23 September onward. Insider Gaming and Push Square both stress that none of this is official.
The claims
What Sony has actually confirmed
Nothing about PS6 hardware. What Sony has confirmed is related, and it's real:
If a November 2027 launch were true, the PS6 would arrive two months before that switch. That timing is interesting, but it's our observation, not evidence. The disc decision stands on its own either way.
How to read this
A finished chip, if true, means the hardware exists in final form. It says nothing about when Sony will announce it, what it will cost after this year's console price rises and the memory shortage, or whether a handheld ships alongside it.
Treat the teraflop numbers as plausible, the date as possible, and the price as a guess until Sony speaks. We'll update this when it does.
