State of Play: everything Sony actually announced, with the dates that are now locked
Two back-to-back showcases, a pile of release dates, and one long-awaited finale confirmed. What's confirmed from PlayStation's September State of Play.
Stated by the maker, publisher, or platform holder.
Sony ran two State of Play broadcasts back to back on 3 September — a main show followed by a Japan-focused one — and the useful outcome for anyone not watching two hours of trailers is a stack of release dates that are now firm.
Here's what was actually confirmed, stripped of the hype.
The dates that locked in
Those three are the headline scheduling news. Revelation in particular had been floating on a vague "Spring 2027" window; now it has a day.
What was revealed or expanded
Beyond dates, the show did the usual mix of reveals and expansion trailers:
- Maneater 2 — officially revealed
- Marvel's Wolverine — a launch trailer ahead of its 15 September release
- Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance — a large 2027 expansion for Capcom's title
- Crimson Desert: Charting the Unknown — a Pearl Abyss expansion dated October 2026
- New games including Rhapsody in Scarlet, Hunter's Moon, and Uncanyon
- Content updates for Ghost of Yōtei, Saros, and Gran Turismo 7
- Four more games added to the PlayStation Plus catalogue
The read
Two shows on one day is a scheduling choice worth noticing. Sony has leaned into multiple smaller broadcasts per year rather than one big annual event, and running a main State of Play straight into a Japan-focused one lets it cover Western and Asian pipelines without diluting either.
It also lands at a moment when Sony needs its software lineup to carry a rougher year for PS5 hardware. Handing Final Fantasy VII Revelation the closing slot — the most valuable real estate in any showcase — is a clear statement of what Sony thinks its strongest card is.
