The only GTA 6 disc you can buy is the soundtrack
Rockstar's 34-track GTA VI: The Album is out 19 November on CD and vinyl. The game's boxed copy holds a download code, not a disc. What's confirmed.
Stated by the maker, publisher, or platform holder.
Rockstar announced GTA VI: The Album on 17 September — 34 original tracks, out on 19 November alongside the game, on streaming, CD, and vinyl. Which means that on launch day, the only thing with GTA 6 on a physical disc will be the music. The game itself won't be on one.
The album
The limited edition is the eye-catching one: two transparent magenta records filled with blue liquid, with exclusive artwork. It has already sold out. Three versions — a CD jewel case, a splatter-edition vinyl, and the liquid-filled vinyl — are exclusive to Rockstar's official album store.
The album is a selection, not the full soundtrack. GTA 6 will also feature licensed music across its in-game radio stations, and Rockstar says more music announcements are coming.
The game: a code in a box
That's why the album announcement landed badly with some fans. The disc question has followed the game since June — a boxed copy you still have to download, with nothing you can install, lend, or resell as a physical game. The soundtrack getting CDs and vinyl on the same day underlines it.
What it means for you
If you want the music, the CD and standard vinyl are still available; the limited vinyl isn't. The album releases the same day as the game.
If you were planning to buy a boxed copy for the disc, there isn't one. A boxed copy gets you a case and a code — useful as a gift or for collecting, but you'll download the game either way. That affects storage: you'll need the full install space on day one regardless of which version you buy.
If you want a collector's item for launch, Rockstar's $399.99 Vice City Collection box is the official option — and it doesn't include the game either.
